Relics

Relics are the only thing down there that teaches you something. Everything else is just worth money.

What a relic is#

A relic is an intact object from the city as it was: a guild seal, a set of kiln tongs, a chandler's ledger, a door key for a door that no longer exists.

Unlike salvage, a relic is not a material. It is a record. Identifying one gives up what the old city knew how to do, which is where recipes come from.

Getting one#

Relics come out of the pry, and only from tier III and up:

III8%
IV16%
V30%

The chance is per successful pry, rolled on the server, and independent. No streak protection and no bad-luck floor.

Identifying#

An unidentified relic is inert. Take it to the Landing and it identifies over real time — minutes to hours depending on tier. You keep the relic afterwards; identification is not consumption.

TierTypically gives
RareA tool or lamp recipe
EpicA tank recipe, or a company
RelicA recipe nothing else grants
GloamA recipe, and a name on the board

Relics and the market#

Identified relics can be listed at the Wick Market. Unidentified ones cannot, because a market in sealed boxes is a lottery with extra steps.

The recipe a relic taught you stays with you when you sell it. Knowledge does not transfer out.

Relics are not power

A relic never makes your delver stronger by existing. It teaches you to make something, and then you have to go and make it. If a relic ever grants a stat directly, we have made a mistake and this page will say so.
